Nixercise is a refreshingly realistic and jargon free approach to health, fitness and nutrition which has a devoted following. Get fit and stay healthy, make friends and feel at one with nature.
We simply advocate keeping it simple – from exercising in the outdoors to eating uncomplicated foods free from sugar or additives. Laughing is positively encouraged, as is making time to relax and enjoy the company of like-minded people.
Founded by Nix Ticehurst in 2009, we offer group fitness classes in and around the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, whatever the weather. Working out in the wonderful fresh air helps to create a toned and flexible body, calm the mind and balance your emotions.
Depending on your fitness level, there are the PowerWalk classes or more high intensity, BodyWeight sessions which involve planking, lunging, squatting and sprinting (often through the mud). These are supplemented by indoor classes with time for a long stretch after high intensity work. One-to-one training is also available on request. No two fitness classes are ever the same.
Nixercise mixes up natural bodyweight movements with cardio and stretching to get your body looking its best. Come rain or shine, weekly group training sessions take place up and down the hills of Wittenham Clumps (near Wallingford), Streatley Hill (near Goring on Thames) and Stoke Row (near Henley on Thames).
The Nixercise Challenge started close to home when Nix and a group of clients decided to train for the Earth Trust Wittenham Clumps 10K run. The experience of setting a goal and working together to achieve it had so many positive benefits for everyone who took part that Nix decided to make it an annual event. Since then challenges have included tackling The Three Peaks, The Brecon Beacons and Mount Toubkhal, Marrakech.
Training for the 2018 challenge which will take place in the Julian Alps, Slovenia, is already underway. There are also plans for a yearly UK marathon walk, the first event to take place in October of this year. Details about this will be published shortly.
Fitness sessions are complemented by fad-free, nutritional advice helping you to eat sensibly and naturally. Practical tips are shared in an online member forum to exchange ideas and support one another. We can help weight loss but offer much more besides. Several clients have seen life-changing results from bringing diabetes under control, to helping manage clinical depression and improving sleep.
Nix is a fully qualified personal trainer with a holistic – and refreshingly realistic – approach to exercise and nutrition. She is in her fifties with a teenage daughter. Nix is ably assisted by a loyal and fully committed team.
